“I noticed that my 6 year-old son was flinching when trying to catch a ball. Also, he was just starting to read and he was having some issues keeping his place on the page. My dad, who is a PhD in special education, suggested that he see a Developmental Optometrist to see if he had some vision issues. I Googled "Developmental Optometrist" and decided to call the top 5 offices. I interviewed them all and consulted my dad and ultimately felt most comfortable with Dr. Roth due to her experience, approach, and affordability. After my son's initial evaluation it was clear that we had work to do and that Dr. Roth could help. We are very happy with our progress. Our son is a confident reader and is improving his hand-eye coordination. I also realized that my younger 4 year-old son could benefit from an evaluation and it turned out that he had some vision issues that could be resolved. Dr. Roth is great with our kids. She knows how to keep them engaged and is very focused on treating kids based on their progress towards their goal. The BGVC office is very welcoming and the staff is incredibly friendly and kind. We have always felt cared for and appreciated at BGVC. Dr. Roth and her staff are unmatched and worth driving across Los Angeles traffic any day of the week. We know that our kids are getting the best help possible to make them better students and athletes.” -JW
“I originally was referred to Dr. Roth by my pediatrician for my son’s lazy eye. It had been getting worse and he was getting headaches every day - it was starting to affect his schoolwork. He would get sleepy in class, and constantly rub his eyes. He was an athletic child but playing soccer was becoming very hard for him. I was considering holding him back a year in school. After I told Dr. Roth all of this at our appointment, she suggested starting vision therapy before I make the decision about holding him back a year. I’m so glad I ended up listening to her. After 3 months I could already see a huge improvement in my son. His headaches were gone, his lazy eye was a lot less noticeable. He stopped being sleepy in class. After 6 months, he signed up for soccer again - his coordination had improved so much! His grades went up, and after talking to his teachers, we decided he no longer needed to be held back a year in school. He told me he loves reading now. I am just so thankful to Dr. Roth for saving my child. ”-JA
“I decided to pursue vision therapy because I had trouble with convergence and would see double occasionally. I’ve noticed that after VT I have much more awareness of how I see, what it feels like to focus and unfocus, tiredness of eyes, etc. My double vision has vastly improved. Better coordination overall (with ball sports, etc.) I liked the exercises that isolated my visual systems and helped me understand and work on different parts of vision. Dr. Roth was friendly, informative, and pushed me to always improve. My advice to others about vision therapy is that it’s a great alternative to relying on corrective lenses that feels like it has laid a solid foundation for my vision as I age.“ - AA
“My daughter was a sophomore in high school when she first told me that she sees double sometimes when she reads. Her school had also said that she has visual processing problems, and referred us to a developmental optometrist. My daughter had seen an optometrist and ophthalmologist before, and I didn’t know there was a difference between them and developmental optometrists. No one had ever said there was something wrong with her eyes- she could read the 20/20 line. It was only when we got to Dr. Roth that we found out that my daughter’s eyes were not working together, and there was a spasm when she tried to focus them. I felt so bad that she had been seeing like this and we didn’t know all this time. After completing vision therapy with Dr. Roth she no longer sees double, she graduated at the top of her class in high school, and now has been offered a scholarship to the university of her dreams. I strongly believe this wouldn’t have happened without all the help from Beverly Grove Vision and Dr. Roth." -AJ
“I had a medical event due to my diabetes that caused me to have double vision. My anxiety had increased and my balance felt off as well. This all made it very difficult for me to work on my laptop (I’m a writer so that’s important). After doing some research online I found Dr. Roth. We started vision therapy right away. It was a long process for me, but Dr. Roth was patient and always had exciting exercises for me to practice. I no longer see double and it has allowed me to get back to work at full speed. Her confidence and dedication to her patients is apparent. I’m lucky to have found her. ”- HR
“I spent years trying to recover from my concussion - but I just never felt right. Finding Dr. Roth and doing vision therapy with her has been a lifesaver. I finally feel like myself again after all these years. I can go to concerts, drive without getting dizzy, and spend time with my family without any problems. "-RS
“I did a Google search and then read reviews. I have a particularly high prescription, with astigmatism in both eyes, and other issues. Dr. Roth called and spoke to me before I made my first appointment. I've seen many optometrists in three states and on both coasts. Dr. Roth is the best eye doctor I've ever had. She really, honestly cares. And she backs it up with great knowledge and skill. I always know that I get the best care from Dr. Roth and I encourage everyone to make an appointment with her.” -GN
“My daughter is a very bright, quiet, and hard working child. She was doing okay in school, but in second grade I noticed she started skipping lines when she was reading, occasionally flipped her numbers and letters, and she still couldn’t catch a ball when she played with her brothers and sisters. At the time we were in the process of moving from Washington to LA. Our optometrist recommended we see Dr. Roth once we were all settled. Dr. Roth did a very thorough evaluation. My daughter usually doesn’t like doctors but Dr. Roth made her feel very comfortable, and we left giggling and happy. We decided to pursue vision therapy to treat her issues. After graduating from vision therapy my daughter is crazy about reading - I can barely get her to stop when it’s time to go to sleep! She also is able to play tennis now with her siblings. I trust Dr. Roth so much I brought my other kids to see her too. I would recommend anyone whose child is struggling in school, and you’re not really sure why - to see a developmental optometrist, and specifically Dr. Roth if you’re in LA!” -SL
“We had been doing occupational therapy for years, and had recently had a neuropsychological assessment. Both our OT and the doctor recommended going to vision therapy. My child is twice exceptional, struggles with dyslexia, as well as other issues. Vision was the missing piece of the puzzle. I wish I had discovered Dr. Roth and vision therapy sooner. My child is doing so much better with reading, and is interested in trying sports now.”-TK
“After sustaining a concussion, I began experiencing significant motion sickness and discomfort when looking at screens for extended periods. Since my job requires prolonged computer use and screen time, these symptoms were impacting my ability to work effectively. I sought out vision therapy to address these post-concussion issues and improve my visual comfort and tolerance during daily tasks. I did an extensive search online for doctors in the area that offered vision therapy and read the positive reviews. Was she knowledgeable and helpful? Yes, Dr. Roth was very friendly and welcoming and made sure to understand the history of my injury and my symptoms so she could accurately address my issues and build a therapy plan. I have improved in my convergence insufficiency, which I can tell from being able to drive more without experiencing motion sickness as well as spend more time on the computer without discomfort. My symptoms are definitely improving. Consistently following my therapy regimen helps a lot with building up a tolerance to extended screen time. I think many people who are experiencing eye discomfort do not know where to start and often struggle with articulating what their vision issues are. Dr. Roth is very skilled at pinpointing the root cause and figuring out a method to improve said issues.”- HM
“I do boxing semi-professionally, and I suffered a pretty bad concussion. My coach wouldn’t let me return to the ring until I got checked out by a few specialists, including a neuro-optometrist. Dr. Roth did my assessment and determined what visual issues I had from the concussion. I attended several months of vision therapy with her and now I’m back in the ring. She’s professional, kind, and cares about her patients.”- MA
