Meet The doctor
Danielle Roth, OD, FOVDR
Doctor Roth’s passion lies with helping people who have visual issues. She is well-known for her thorough examinations, warm and caring demeanor, professionalism, and ability to make vision testing and treatment fun for children and adults.
Her interest in vision care began in high school while working at an ophthalmology office after school. She graduated at the top of her class and went on to UCLA finishing in 3.5 years with Honors. She volunteered at the UCLA Hospital and worked in the Jules Stein Eye Institute, researching Dry Eye Disease. Working along prestigious doctors, learning more about vision and how optometry can help people see the world better while improving their lives, she made up her mind to switch from pursuing general medicine to pursuing her optometric degree.
After receiving her Doctorate of Optometry, Dr. Roth completed internships at West Los Angeles Veterans Hospital and Cedars Sinai, where she gained valuable clinical experience. Her work at top Vision Centers in Los Angeles under the guidance of doctors and surgeons well known in the field continued and expanded her exceptional knowledge working with adults and children. During this time Dr. Roth discovered her passion for behavioral and neuro-optometry. She underwent hundreds of hours in professional development programs, certifications, and classes dedicated to the advancement and treatment of visual skills that affect visual processing (reading and learning), binocular vision, and traumatic brain injury (concussion). She completed the rigorous process of becoming Board Certified, and successfully passed the assessments to become a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FOVDR) – one of just a few in the Los Angeles area. Dr. Roth founded her practice, Beverly Grove Vision Care, which now specializes in Visual Processing Evaluations, Functional Vision Exams for children and adults, and Vision Therapy. Her mission is to provide the highest quality vision care for people struggling with school, work, sports, or just activities of daily living. Dr. Roth is a member of the LA County Optometric Society (and past board member in charge of community service), California and American Optometric Associations, the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, a member of the College of Syntonic Optometry, certified in Sports Vision through the Optometric Extension Program, certified in Wellness Counseling from Cornell University, and continuously takes courses to stay up to date on advances in behavioral optometry and vision therapy. She believes that vision does not just take place through the eyes – but is a function of the brain and the whole body. This way of thinking has deepened her understanding of how the visual system is affected by neurology, and how to best help and rehabilitate a person’s visual skills.
Dr. Roth provides diagnostic services, evaluation and treatment for all phases of binocular dysfunction, ocular motor dysfunction, convergence insufficiency, amblyopia, strabismus, as well as vision disorders that have occurred as a result of or relate to traumatic brain injury, learning disabilities, and neurodivergence (such as autism spectrum disorder, attention hyperactivity disorder, and dyslexia).
Dr. Roth’s professional network includes neuropsychologists, primary care doctors, pediatricians, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, educational therapists, and teachers. She enjoys giving lectures and presentations at schools and community centers on the importance of vision and ways to improve it.
In her free time, Dr. Roth enjoys going to museums, traveling, spending time with her family, volunteering with Icing Smiles, a nonprofit organization, where she bakes custom cakes for families impacted by the critical illness of a child. She also loves playing with her adorable pup, who you may see around the office sometimes!
You might meet our office doggie while you’re here! He loves to say hello!
